#TheShelfieHop

This one day blog hop features pictures of bloggers' book sheves.
#TheShelfieHop is hosted by Bookiemoji and My Friends Are Fiction

This is what my "bookshelf" looked like for about a year and a half after we moved into our new house. the books lived in the box they moved in and in stacks nearby for quite a while. I purchased the book shelf from Target for about $25 but never got around to putting it together.

Luckily my dad (the ultimate yard sale/ curbside freebie sleuth) found me this solid and sturdy bookshelf at the start of the summer. I was thrilled and quickly set it up.

The top shelf has all my favorites, the second shelf has books that I really like. The third shelf contains more recent additions to my collection that I haven't figured out how to reorganize the top two shelves to make room for. The bottom shelf is a combo of "to be read books" and "to giveaway/donate" books.

Stop by other blogs and check out their #Shelfies!

Book Blogger Hop #13 (week of March 13)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is: What is more important to you when you are deciding to read a book?

The most important thing to me is the summary - it needs to get my attention and make me want to read the book. Next are the title and cover.

Book Blogger Hop #12 (week of January 16)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is: Do you write a review for every book you read or only review copies from publishers?

I write a review for every book I read. :)

Book Blogger Hop #11 (week of December 12)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is: How many books do you read in a week? How many hours do you spend reading a day?

SQUEE!! Fun fact: I actually submitted this question!!

Anyways, I don't know how many books I average in a week because sometimes I don't finish any in a week and sometimes I'll finish several in a week.

That being said, I try to read for at least an hour every night.

Book Blogger Hop #10 (week of November 28)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is: Do you visit the same blogs each week or do you branch out and try to find new blogs?

I have a handful of favorites that I visit every week, if I have time, I check out new blogs.

Book Blogger Hop #9 (week of November 7)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is: Should book bloggers be doing more to support bookshops rather than just give links to Amazon or B&N as a place to buy the printed version of books they read?

I've never thought about it. It would be great to share links to local book shops, but I'm not sure how it would work since people from all over the country (and sometimes the world) follow our blogs.

What do you think?

Book Blogger Hop #8 (week of August 1st)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is: How many bookcases do you have, and how do you organize the shelves?

Technically one, but it's not put together yet and my books are in a box or piles near it. It's a bit embarrassing, but here's a pic.

Book Blogger Hop #7 (week of July 25th)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is: Do you like to read books with a theme such as Halloween, Christmas, etc

No, I sort of find them annoying for some reason, but I am not sure why.

Book Blogger Hop #6 (week of July 18th)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is: Do covers pull you in?

YES! I love book covers, and I am definitely guilty of judging books by their covers every once in a while. Books with catchy covers usually pull me in and sometimes give me an extra push to read them.

Book Blogger Hop #5 (week of April 25)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is: Do you answer the Book Blogger Hop questions in advance and have them scheduled or do you write your post the night before or the day of the Book Blogger Hop?

My Answer:
It depends. Recently I've been trying to answer and schedule in advance. I only participate in the weeks for which I feel I have something constructive to say, so it's pretty easy to get ahead. It really depends on how things are going with my work and school. Writing the posts in advance is definitely helpful during those weeks where I feel like I have too much going on.

Do you write you blog posts in advance and schedule them to be posted? If so, do you have a system?

Book Blogger Hop #4 (week of April 18)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is: Are your reviews more of a rehash of the story or do you comment on writing style, characters, and reflection?

My Answer:

My reviews tend to be on the shorter side. I generally include whether I liked the book or not (and to what extent) and things that stood out to me while I was reading.

Personally I can't stand reading "reviews" in which people basically summarize the book, in my opinion that is what the blurb/synopsis is for. I also can't stand lengthy book report style reviews, they lose my interest. When I read a review, I'm looking for quick insight as to whether a book is for me or not, so I generally skip the longer ones.

When I write my reviews, I try to keep it simple and think to myself "what would I say to my sister about this book?"

What is your review style? As a reader, what is your preference when checking out other people's reviews?

Book Blogger Hop #3 (week of March 7th)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer. Its purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question is:
Do you have a schedule set for blogging and reading time? Or do you not have a set time and just let it happen?

My Answer:
I have no schedule for blogging and reading. I try to read whenever I have spare time. I try to post book reviews within 24 hours of finishing a book. I try to participate in memes on a semi-regular basis in order to balance out book reviews.

I read a blog (that I can't seem to find now) that said you should have a schedule in order to stay sain and continue to enjoy blogging, but to be honest my life is just too hectic right now to formally schedule in this hobby. For example, it's been a while since I've posted a book review, I just haven't had the time to finish anything recently.

Do you have a schedule for reading and blogging? If so, I'd love to hear how it works!

Book Blogger Hop #2 (1/28/2014)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted on the site Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.
Its purpose it to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs,
befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question: Do you think you will ever read every book in your TBR stack?

No, I have 262 books on my Want to Read Shelf on Goodreads and I have downloaded countless Freebies on Amazon. I also tend to add things to be TBR shelf and periodically take them off and of course I'm constantly adding things to by TBR shelf too.

What about you? How is your TBR stack - accomplishable, manageable, or out of control?

Book Blogger Hop #1 (1/23/2014)

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted on the site Ramblings of a Coffee Addicted Writer.
Its purpose it to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new blogs,
befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to their own blog.

Each week bloggers answer a different question. This week's question: Do you blog for a living or for fun?
I blog for fun! I don't make money off of my blog and I don't ever intend to, but sometimes I receive free books in exchange for an honest review which is a nice way to feed my reading habit/hobby.

What about you? Do you blog for a living or for fun? Let me know in the comments!
