Series: Lunar Chronicles #3

Publication Date: February 4, 2014
Summary from Goodreads: In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who's only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a high price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

Review: WOW! This book is definitely the best one so far.

There are so many delicately woven details that this book parallels the fairytales in a way the story feels a bit familiar, BUT there are so many twists that keep you guessing. I am blown away by how the tiniest details from a previous book become very important later – like foreshadowing but better. And the teasers of what is to come in Winter… I just can’t handle all of this literary goodness!

The action starts pretty much right away and doesn’t let up, like on the edge of my seat type of action. As you approach the last hundred pages or so, make sure you set aside the rest of your night, because YOU WILL NOT WANT TO PUT IT DOWN!

The characters are so well developed and just keep getting better. We get to know Cress (Rapunzel) and her unique story and to be honest I really like her. We really get to learn about Thorne in this book and he has definitely grown on me. Cinder continues to grow in her role and sort of shifts from “Cinderella” to “Anastasia”. We get to meet Winter who is definitely intriguing.

The writing is fabulous, the switching POVs worked really well and helped the plot move along. Overall, I am telling you, you must get your hands on this series ASAP!
